Right there with ya, _RTC. Sadly, I doubt they actually care…

Are the wingnuts crying persecution yet?

I always try to keep an open mind, and even though this is defamatory and outrageous regardless of the circumstances, I don’t feel I’m as qualified to criticize the Fox News “lot” in Argentina since I’m an American. I don’t know how similar/different their “left” and “right” ideologies and media divide are to our own, but I can say with certainty it is somewhat telling that this poll would occur on a Fox News website.

Kyle did it, but only in order for Jesus to obtain his Resurrection super powers!

“Who” did it is irrelevant
If you are a non believer you don’t care
If you are a believer someone had to do it or you wouldn’t have a religion.

Fox News anywhere issuing an apology is like a tick stating he’s had enough.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Argentina being a favorite hiding place for former Nazis?

I always find it a little weird that on one hand, it’s basic Christian doctrine that God offered up his son to die on the cross, but no one seems to think about how that meshes with the free will of the people who ultimately carried that out.

re: #9 The Ghost of a Flea

From a (Jewish) theological perspective, harping on who killed Jesus and why comes off to me as idolatry, pure and simple. It’s getting worked up over the immanent excursions of a fundamentally transcendent God as though it were a sports match, like a pagan religion where one god fights with another. If the death of Jesus was fundamentally necessary to atone for the sins of mankind, who the hell cares who was “responsible” for making it happen? It’s not like anything could or should have been done about it. It’s not like God needs your help in tracking down and punishing the culprits.

Re Flea — The free will issue comes up again and again. I just did a short talk a few weeks ago on the same question as it arises in the story of Joseph’s brothers selling him into slavery. Joseph forgives them on the grounds that it was all part of a divine plan in the first place. Mind, I don’t think it’s clear what free will means at all, or if it even has a definable meaning. Even if you throw divine order out of the picture and assume a mechanical universe, it’s hard to sufficiently pin down what we mean by free will either to support or refute it.
